Course Specifications
Course Number:

Course Length:
0.5 day
Course Description
Overview:
Microsoft® Copilot is an AI-powered productivity tool that leverages the power of large language models (LLMs) to help you navigate your daily workload, unlock creativity, and get answers. This course is designed to help you work productively with Copilot, which is available as a built-in tool in Windows® 11 and Microsoft Edge®.
Course Objectives:
In this course, you will use Copilot to streamline communication, power up your content creation, and maximize the potential of generative AI. You will:
- Use Copilot and other AI tools available in the Windows 11 operating system.
- Use Copilot in the Edge browser.
Target Student:
This course is designed for people who are familiar with Windows 11 and want to develop the skills needed to put Copilot, Microsoft's AI-powered productivity tool, to work in their own tasks and workflows.
Course Prerequisites:
To ensure your success in this course, you should be comfortable using the Microsoft Windows operating system, as well as experienced with web browsers and Internet search engines. In Windows 11, you need to be able to launch applications, use the snap feature to view multiple apps at the same time, switch between open apps, access file manager, save files, and copy and paste text. You can obtain this level of skills and knowledge by taking one of the following Logical Operations courses:
- Using Microsoft® Windows® 11
- Using Microsoft® Windows® 10 (Second Edition)
Course-Specific Technical Requirements
Hardware:
For this course, you will need one computer for each student and one for the instructor. Each computer will need the following minimum hardware configurations:
NOTE: To determine whether the processor is supported in Windows 11, refer to the Windows 11 row of the table on the following page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/windows-processor-requirements .
- Sufficient processor speed, RAM, and storage space for good system performance when running Windows 11, version 23H2.
- Mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
- High-speed, stable Internet connection.
- For the instructor's computer, a method to project and/or share the screen as needed for local and remote class participants.
Account Requirement
This course requires a Microsoft account for each student and the instructor in order to use Copilot and the Microsoft 365 online apps. This account must be a personal Microsoft account, not an Entra school/work account.
Software:
- Windows 11 version 23H2 or newer, Home or Professional
NOTE: When this course was developed, Microsoft rolled out access to Copilot inconsistently. We found that the most reliable way of acquiring Copilot was to perform a fresh installation of Windows 11 23H2.
- If necessary, software for viewing the course slides. (Instructor machine only.)
