Course Description
You are familiar with the Microsoft Windows environment. However, your organization is moving to the UNIX environment to operate applications that specifically run on UNIX. You need to get familiar with working in UNIX. In the Unix and Linux: Fundamentals course, you will use the command line interface (CLI) in UNIX to perform basic tasks.
Course Objective: You will be introduced to UNIX and work with its files and directories. You will also manage the processes and jobs in UNIX.Target Student: Individuals who are using the Windows desktop operating system and are migrating to UNIX or a mixed Windows/UNIX environment.

Hardware Requirements
Classroom Requirements
- One system for the instructor—Allocate instructor machine for Fedora Core 9 installation.
- One system per student—Allocate student machine for Fedora Core 9 installation.
- A display system to project the instructor’s computer screen (Projector)
- Ethernet HUB or Switch (number of ports depend on the number of student machines)
- LAN cables.

- Memory: 512 MB or higher
- Free disk space: 20 GB or more
- A Pentium IV processor or higher
- DVD drive (Boot capable)
- Generic keyboard and mouse
- Display card (VGA - 256 color 800x600)
